We have recently
added a new level of membership. If you are a
firefighter in another company surrounding Glenside or work
in the Glenside area, you may be able to join Glenside Fire
Co. as a Limited Active Member. To be considered for this position, you should live or work
near the following areas: Ardsley, North Hills,
Glenside (Abington or Cheltenham), Glenside Gardens,
Abington (19001), Jenkintown, Wyncote, Laverock, Wyndmoor,
Oreland, and potentially select portions of Roslyn, Upper
Dublin and Elkins Park. If you have any questions or

Requirements for
prospective Limited Active Member:

Must have
State FFI or equivalent at time of application

Must pass
Township sponsored physical examination

Must pass
criminal background check
-
Must have a
minimum of 2 years of firefighting experience
Requirements of
Limited Active Membership:
-
Make 10% of
fire calls (around 35-40 calls per year)

Make 30% of
work details
-
Attend 4
“hands on” fire schools
-
Member
must facilitate communication between their
fire company and Chief 1 to confirm that the
member is an active member of their company

Limited Active Membership

Eligible for
medical and personal leave only

Ineligible for
voting privileges

Ineligible to
hold position as an officer

Time served as
a Limited Active Member does not accrue
membership years on the crew
